Extensive studies over 30 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the U.K.

In 3D/4D scanning exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body.

At Hello You all scans are performed by experienced NHS trained clinicians – either midwives or radiographers, trained to a minimum of PgC in Medical Ultrasound.

Further information about the ultrasound safety principles we adhere to can be found at - https://www.bmus.org

A 2D image is the familiar one-dimensional, black and white picture used for diagnostic scans and gender reveals. 3D adds dimension and colour. With this scan you are able to see more of what your baby looks like, from facial features to baby’s hands and feet. 4D imaging is the most cutting-edge of ultrasound technology and involves seeing your baby’s movements and facial expressions through the 3D video clip.

If you already know you are expecting twins we will not charge double but we will ask for a 20% surcharge. This is to ensure we have ample time for the particular service you book.

Unfortunately we do not offer a drop in service, pre-booked appointments are necessary for all of our services. If you visit our booking page and select the type of scan you would like, you can view our schedule and select a day and time that works best for you.

In most cases we can provide an indication of the gender of your baby from 16 weeks' onwards. We can’t however guarantee that the baby will cooperate during your session. Certain factors such as the client’s BMI, baby’s developmental stage and baby’s position can all affect the ability to determine gender. If we are unable to determine this, we will bring you back at no charge to try again.

Usually, but not always. There are many things out of the sonographer’s control like the baby's position, the mother’s BMI as well as structures such as the placenta and umbilical cord.

If it is proving difficult to obtain quality images we may send you on a short walk and suggest you eat or drink cold water at this time as this usually results in baby changing position. A further scan will then be performed at no additional cost.

We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our clinic, or that we can always meet everyone’s expectations.

Of course. We can accommodate up to 4 seated guests. Any children attending are included in this number.

We currently do not offer internal (transvaginal) scanning at Hello You. By 8 weeks gestation we can see the baby clearly by the usual abdominal method. If this is not the case our sonographer will advise at the time of your scan.
